Equinox Resources (ASX:EQN) engaged an independent heritage advisory firm, Judih Judih, to conduct a fact and evidence-based assessment relating to heritage matters at the Hamersley iron ore project in Western Australia, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

This follows questions regarding aspects of the Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corp. and the 2023 Yulur heritage survey, particularly the mapped extent and location of the Wulkajarramunha ethnographic site situated within the project.

The firm was denied consent by the state government for a planned infill drilling program at the project based on the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Committee's consideration of two ethnographic sites on the land, which were identified in a 2023 survey conducted by Yulur Heritage Services.
