The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) increased 0.4%.
In corporate news, Trinity Biotech (TRIB) shares jumped about 28% after it said Wednesday that it has received regulatory approval to begin offshore and outsourced manufacturing of its TrinScreen HIV rapid test.
Tharimmune (THAR) shares surged 103% after it said Wednesday that results from an analysis of its lead drug candidate TH104 showed that it could potentially be used as a countermeasure for military personnel and chemical incident responders exposed to high-potency opioids, including weaponized fentanyl.
CVS Health's (CVS) Caremark unit has been ordered to pay about $289.9 million in a whistleblower case involving Medicare fraud claims, according to a court ruling on Tuesday. CVS shares increased 0.2%.
