Centrus Energy Corp. has announced a new agreement with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) and POSCO International to explore potential investments for expanding its uranium enrichment plant in Piketon, Ohio. This development follows the February 2025 contract between Centrus and KHNP, which has now been updated to include a higher supply volume of Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU). The expansion of Centrus' capacity is contingent on federal funding, as the company is vying for support from the U.S. Department of Energy to boost U.S. enrichment capabilities. The agreement aims to enhance U.S.-Korea cooperation in civilian nuclear energy and reflects growing market demand for U.S.-owned uranium enrichment capabilities. The companies will also explore additional opportunities for cooperation, including supply agreements for High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) for next-generation reactors.
