Sector Update: Financial Stocks Lean Lower Premarket Friday

Financial stocks were leaning lower premarket Friday, with the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) slightly declining.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was 0.04% lower and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was up 0.49%.

Barclays (BCS) said its subsidiary, Barclays Principal Investments, agreed to sell its stake in the Entercard Group joint venture to partner Swedbank for 2.6 billion Swedish kronor ($274.6 million). Shares of Barclays were down more than 3% pre-bell.

Stifel Financial (SF) said total client assets in July rose 9% to $522.3 billion from $481.45 billion a year earlier. Shares of Stifel Financial were 0.2% lower pre-bell.
