Centaurus Metals (ASX:CTM) said that Brazilian energy distributor and power distributor Equatorial Para Distribuidora de Energia advised the need to upgrade transmission capacity to meet long-term energy requirements at the company's Jaguar nickel project, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The distributor's planning department is currently undertaking a transmission capacity study in the region, due to be completed in December, the filing said.

Upon completion of the study, steps to implement the required upgrade will be taken, the filing added.

The company said it will assess other short-term power options for the project.
