Weyerhaeuser Company has announced the successful completion of a significant environmental, social, and governance $(ESG)$ initiative with the establishment of the Tualatin Mountain Forest in Multnomah County, Oregon. The company sold over 3,000 acres of land to the Trust for Public Land, which subsequently transferred the property to Oregon State University (OSU). This move aims to foster long-term collaboration between Weyerhaeuser and OSU, focusing on conservation, education, and research. The forest, which includes a popular mountain biking trail system, will serve as a working forest and a resource for local schools and community groups. The project highlights a decade-long effort involving multiple stakeholders and agencies, aligning legal, operational, and land use details to facilitate the sale. This initiative is expected to support workforce development and inspire future forestry professionals.
