SK Telecom (KRX:017670) rejected the recommendation of a dispute mediation committee under the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) to extend its waiver of subscription cancellation fees through end-2025 in the wake of April's cyberattack.

The telecommunications firm had earlier pledged a fee waiver for cancellations made by July 14, and replaced USIM chips for all 25 million subscribers, Yonhap News reported Thursday.

The company said that further extension of fee waiver will impact the firm and related legal issues, the report cited a company official.

Shares of SK Telecom rose nearly 1% in recent trade.
