0715 GMT - French shares open higher after President Emmanuel Macron named his defense minister and close ally Sebastien Lecornu as the new Prime Minister on Tuesday. The appointment came hours after Francois Bayrou resigned from the post after losing a confidence vote. Lecornu has major challenges ahead, including the task of trying to steer a budget through a politically fractured National Assembly. "There are no signs that this task will become easier, with the far-right and far-left maintaining calls for snap elections," Deutsche Bank analysts write. France's blue-chip equity index, the CAC 40, rises 0.3%. Meanwhile, the broader SBF 120 index advances 0.2%. (maitane.sardon@wsj.com)
