Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) has now opened commercial bookings for its first Airbus A321XLR aircraft, with inaugural flights set to start on Sept 25, according to a Qantas media release issued on Friday.
The first two A321XLRs will fly Sydney-Melbourne and Sydney-Perth routes, and their extended range will allow the company to serve domestic and short-haul international destinations, per the release.
These new planes feature wider seats, larger windows, faster free Wi-Fi, and overhead bins with 60% more capacity than the Boeing 737 model they replace, the release said.
A third A321XLR is set to arrive in November, with seven expected by year-end, as the company has increased its total order to 48, the release added.
