PainChek (ASX:PCK) said the PainChek Adult App was trialed in the Scottish care system in a Scottish government-funded pilot, and an independent evaluation confirmed clinical benefits in using the app, including up to 40% reduction in falls and up to 27% reduction in dependency and care needs, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The app was independently assessed by Edinburgh Napier University in collaboration with the Scottish Care Inspectorate, and the evaluation also confirmed improvements in clinical outcomes, such as a 25% reduction in analgesic usage, a 33% reduction in antipsychotic prescriptions, and a 21% reduction in antidepressants.

Following the pilot, Renaissance Care, which operates 18 care homes across Scotland and cares for around 750 people, rolled PainChek out across all of its services.

PainChek's integration with healthcare data management provider InterSystems and the implementation phase pilot at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland was completed by the Specialist Pain Nurse team, per the filing. The pilot study will now move into phase two to assess the use of PainChek within specific hospital wards, for use by both nurses and healthcare teams.

Its shares were up 4% in recent trading on Wednesday.
