Western Mines Group (ASX:WMG) said geochemical assay results for the first four phase four reverse circulation drill holes at the Mulga Tank project in Western Australia highlighted broad intersections of nickel sulfide mineralization, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The results extend nickel sulfide mineralization outside of previously tested zones and outside the current mineral resource.

It encountered a continuous intersection of 269 meters at 0.33% grade of nickel, 144 parts-per-million grade of cobalt, and 215 ppm grade of copper from 61 meters.

The firm's shares rose 8% in recent trading on Thursday.
