ASX Midday Sector Update: Financials Stocks Up, Consumer Staples Struggle

Financial stocks jumped over 1% at midday Tuesday.

On Wall Street, all three indices hit new record highs, with the Nasdaq up 0.7%, the S&P 500 rising 0.4%, and the Dow Jones up 0.1%.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) started proceedings against Royal Automobile Club Insurance, a unit of Insurance Australia Group (ASX:IAG), in the Federal Court for allegedly failing to provide its customers with premium comparisons in 570,000 renewal documents from September 2019 to December 2024.

On the flip side, the consumer staples sector fell 0.3%.
