Tutor Perini Corporation announced that its subsidiary, Five Star Electric, has been awarded an electrical subcontract for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) Standby Power Generator Facility in Newark, New Jersey. The project, part of a resiliency initiative by PVSC, involves constructing an on-site emergency backup power system at the wastewater treatment plant. The facility will feature a natural gas-fired power plant designed to generate 34 megawatts of electricity, ensuring continued operation during grid failures. Five Star Electric's responsibilities include power distribution, switchgear, grounding, lightning protection, communications and security systems, lighting, fire alarm system, and instrumentation/controls. Work has recently begun, with substantial completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2027. The contract value was not disclosed.
