Thunderbird Resources' (ASX:THB) joint venture partner, Mustang Energy, started a diamond core drilling program at the Surprise Creek project in Canada, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
The program is designed to follow up on shallow, high-grade uranium mineralization found in previous drilling at the Surprise Creek fault area, the filing said.
Mustang Energy is required to spend CA$3 million to secure an 80% interest in the project, with the company retaining a 20% stake, per the filing.
Thunderbird Resources shares rose more than 14% in afternoon trade Monday.
