Carlsberg increased the level of cost synergies it expects to achieve from its acquisition of Britvic, noting the strategic, operational and financial rationale of the deal remains highly compelling.

Presenting at an investor day in Copenhagen, Chief Executive Jacob Aarup-Andersen said the cost-synergies target was raised to 110 million pounds ($147.9 million) from 100 million pounds previously.

"The majority of the increase in cost synergies is people-related," Aarup-Andersen said. "We're seeing more overlaps than we had originally anticipated."

The Danish brewer earlier this year completed the acquisition of U.K.-based soft-drinks maker Britvic, creating a single integrated beverage company supplying beer and soft drinks in the U.K. The combined business is called Carlsberg Britvic.

Carlsberg said it still expects an operating profit contribution from Britvic of 250 million pounds this year while its confidence in achieving material revenue synergies has been strengthened.
