Singapore Shares Rally. STI Soars 1.7% to Record High; ST Engineering, DBS, SGX, YZJ Shipbldg, Keppel, Frasers Property up over 2%

Singapore shares soared on Thursday, tracking regional gains lifted by a strong rally in technology shares, while investors remained optimist that the US Federal Reserve will slash interest rates following weak employment data.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 4,333.41 and 4,404.25 throughout the day. It ended the session at 4,395.21, up 72.09 points or 1.7% compared to Wednesday's close.

ST Engineering, DBS, SGX, YZJ Shipbldg, Keppel, Frasers Property up over 2%; SIA Engineering, Seatrium up over 1%.

In company news, shares of CapitaLand Ascott Trust were up nearly 2% at the close as it completed the divestment of Citadines Central Shinjuku Tokyo hotel for 25 billion yen.

Frasers Centerpoint Trust shares were up nearly 1% after it issued 73,806 units to its manager at SG$2.3372 per unit as payment of a divestment fee of SG$172,500.

Meanwhile, Yangzijiang Financial shares were up nearly 1% after it agreed to acquire a 23.36% effective voting rights in Shanshan for around 1.02 billion yuan.
