HF Sinclair began a scheduled 75-day maintenance turnaround at its 149,000 b/d Puget Sound refinery in Anacortes, Wash., according to market sources.
An HF Sinclair spokesperson said in an email that planned third-quarter maintenance is scheduled at the refinery, adding that the work will target the refinery's crude, hydrotreater and isomerization units.
The spokesperson didn't disclose when the work would begin and end, nor the unit affected by the work.
The scheduled turnaround comes at a time when several West Coast refineries have reported multiple planned and unplanned events.
A flaring event for "start-up/shut down" began Tuesday at the Carson section of Marathon Petroleum's 384,500 b/d in Los Angeles, according to a company filing with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The event is expected to end on Sunday.
Chevron told SCAQMD that it had begun a "start-up/shut down" Monday in advance of maintenance work at its 290,500 b/d El Segundo, Calif., refinery. The event is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday.
On Sunday, PBF Energy told state officials that a process upset on an unidentified unit at its 157,000 b/d led to flaring and the release of an unknown amount of sulfur dioxide for about an hour.
PBF Energy's 166,200 b/d Torrance refinery has also been undergoing work since Aug. 31, a regulatory filing from SCAQMD shows. The event is expected to be completed on Tuesday.
Flaring at Phillips 66's 156,000 b/d Wilmington refinery has been ongoing since Sept. 7, it said in a SCAQMD filing. The event is scheduled to end on Tuesday.
The company in August said it would begin closing units this month ahead of a planned shutdown of the plant by the end of the year.
