Aemetis Inc., a renewable natural gas and biofuels company, is expanding its operations following California's approval of E15-gasoline blended with 15% ethanol. The new law, signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, increases the allowable ethanol blend from 10% to 15%, expanding the state's potential ethanol market by more than 600 million gallons per year. Aemetis operates a 65 million gallon per year ethanol facility near Modesto and is investing $30 million in a mechanical vapor recompression system to reduce emissions and production costs at its Keyes plant. The expansion is expected to improve cash flow by $32 million annually after 2026, further supporting California's environmental goals and reducing fuel costs for consumers.
