Portland General Electric Company (PGE) has partnered with GridCARE to accelerate large load interconnections for data centers in Hillsboro, Oregon. Using GridCARE's AI-enabled grid planning approach, the collaboration will enable over 80 megawatts of additional capacity for data center use by 2026, with a total of more than 400 megawatts to be energized by 2029. This innovative use of generative AI forecasting allows for more efficient utilization of existing grid infrastructure, supporting rapid growth in data center demand while maintaining system reliability and controlling costs for all customers. The initiative highlights Oregon's growing role as a national technology hub and marks PGE as one of the first utilities to use AI for large-scale load forecasting.
