Shares of vehicle manufacturers, including Tesla (TSLA), Toyota Motor (TM), Honda Motor (HMC), General Motors (GM), and Ford Motor (F) were up in recent Monday premarket activity after a Friday Reuters report said that US President Donald Trump is considering tariff relief for domestic vehicle production, citing Republican Senator Bernie Moreno and auto officials.

"The signal to the car companies around the world is look, you have final assembly in the US.: we're going to reward you," Moreno told Reuters.

Moreno stated that Ford, Toyota, Honda, Tesla, and GM, the top five domestic vehicle manufacturers, will be exempt from tariffs, according to the report.

Trump and the administration "are committed to a nuanced and multi-faceted approach to securing domestic auto and auto parts production. Until any official action is signed by the president, however, any discussion about administration policymaking is speculative," a White House official told Reuters.

In recent Monday premarket activity, Tesla was up 2.3%, Toyota rose 1.9%, Honda gained 1.3%, and Ford added 0.6%.
