2025/10/10

1144 ET - Energy activity in the middle of the U.S. remained negative in the third quarter and isn't expected to rebound in the next six months, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's quarterly survey shows. The Tenth District Energy Survey's key index of drilling and business activity comes in at minus 16 for the quarter, roughly in line with a second-quarter reading of minus 17, as revenue and profits fell to their lowest levels in two years. Readings above zero indicate expansion, while those below zero show contraction. The survey's future drilling and business activity index, which covers expectations for the next six months, comes in at 0 for a second straight quarter. (colin.kellaher@wsj.com)
