Global 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) subscriptions are projected to more than double by 2030, reaching 150 million worldwide, according to Omdia's latest report published by TechTarget Inc. The analysis highlights India and the United States as leading markets, with India expected to account for 37 million subscriptions and the US 20 million. Nigeria, Italy, and Japan are also anticipated to join the top five 5G FWA markets by 2030. The report identifies FWA as the fastest-growing broadband access technology, set to surpass 4G FWA by 2027 and overtake DSL to become the third-largest broadband technology globally. As cable modem subscriptions decline, FWA is poised to become the second most common broadband access technology after 2030. The report also notes the increasing importance of quality of experience (QoE), with operators differentiating their services based on reliability, latency, and user-specific performance. Total FWA service revenues are expected to reach $46 billion by 2030, fueled by premium 5G offerings and innovative bundling strategies.
