Nvidia (NVDA), AMD $(AMD)$: Chip stocks and shares in other big technology companies rallied premarket after upbeat comments from both U.S. and China following weekend trade talks. Shares of MP Materials (MP), the U.S.'s biggest rare-earth producer, dropped 5.5%.

Boeing $(BA)$: St. Louis-area machinists will remain on strike after rejecting a modified contract proposal for a fourth time. Separately, the White House said several Southeast Asian countries had agreed to purchase Boeing aircraft.

Avidity Biosciences (RNA): Swiss drugmaker Novartis (CH:NOVN, NVS) agreed to buy the U.S. biotechnology company for $12 billion. Avidity's stock surged 40% in premarket trading. Novartis shares edged lower.

Porsche (XE:P911): The German luxury sports-car maker posted better-than-expected quarterly free cash flow and backed its annual guidance. Shares rose more than 2%, as investors bet the worst is behind the company after a string of profit warnings.

HSBC (UK:HSBA, HSBC): The Asia-focused global bank will book a $1.1 billion provision for a lawsuit related to Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme. Shares dropped 1% in London.
