Meanwhile, investors will dig into earnings from McDonald's, Palantir and a host of other companies. On Thursday, Tesla is due to publish the outcome of its shareholder vote on CEO Elon Musk's pay package. Here's what to watch:

-- Earnings: Palantir (read more), Vertex Pharmaceuticals

-- Economic data: Manufacturing purchasing managers indexes from the Institute of Supply Management and S&P Global

-- Federal Reserve speaker: Fed governor Lisa Cook is slated to speak on the economic outlook. The Supreme Court in October allowed Cook to keep her job and scheduled arguments in January to weigh President Trump's bid to fire her.

-- Treasury Department: Quarterly refunding plan due

-- Tariff update: The Supreme Court is due to hear arguments on the Trump administration's sweeping global tariffs. The levies have been dealt defeats in lower courts, but remain in place until the case is decided.

-- Earnings: AppLovin, ARM, DoorDash, McDonald's, Marriott Vacations Worldwide, Novo Nordisk, Qualcomm, Robinhood, Toyota

-- Economic data: ADP private employment report and services PMIs from ISM and S&P Global

Thursday, Nov. 6

-- Earnings: Airbnb, AstraZeneca, ConocoPhillips, DuPont, Kenvue, Warner Bros. Discovery

-- Fed speakers: Fed governor Christopher Waller speaks on payments. New York Fed President John Williams and St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem are also due to speak.

-- Musk pay vote: Tesla is due to publish the outcome of a shareholder vote on a pay package for Musk that could be worth as much as $1 trillion.

-- Overseas central bank: The Bank of England is generally expected to hold interest rates steady. Some analysts project a 0.25 percentage point cut.

Friday, Nov. 7

-- Earnings: Constellation Energy, Duke Energy, KKR

-- Economic data: Preliminary consumer sentiment for November from the University of Michigan

-- Fed speakers: Vice Chair Philip Jefferson speaks on AI and the economy. Fed governor Stephen Miran speaks on stablecoins and monetary policy.
