Baidu's (BIDU) driverless car unit, Apollo Go, has overtaken 250,000 fully driverless weekly ride orders as of Oct. 31, comparable with Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) unit Waymo's reported figures in April, CNBC reported Sunday, citing a spokesperson.
Baidu HK shares jumped 5% on the news.
Apollo Go revealed that there has been one airbag deployment for every 10.1 million kilometers driven, but no major accident involving human injury or death so far, according to the report.
Baidu did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
