1853 ET [Dow Jones]--Cava is the latest fast-casual restaurant chain to come under pressure as younger customers pull back on eating out. The company said same-store sales trends moderated throughout its latest quarter into the current quarter, pointing to increased economic pressures on consumers ages 25 to 35 years old. "They don't have the steam that they had last year in the way that they were visiting or their frequency of visiting," CEO Brett Schulman says during a call with analysts, pointing to economic strains like student loan repayments, inflation and healthcare and housing costs. Last week, Chipotle similarly pointed to weakness among younger customers, who it said are increasingly eating at home. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
