Booking Holdings Inc. has released new industry analysis highlighting significant shifts in British travel trends for the 2025 festive season. According to data from KAYAK, there is a 13% year-on-year increase in festive flight searches from the UK, indicating that more travellers are opting to spend Christmas and New Year abroad. The analysis reveals a marked rise in interest for long-haul destinations, with flight searches to Africa up by 24% and to Asia up by 5%. Seven of the top ten trending destinations are outside of Europe, including Manila, Islamabad, and Cape Town. Additionally, there is a growing appetite for luxury travel, with business class flight searches up by 17% and a 25% increase in demand for five-star hotels, even as luxury prices remain steady. The findings suggest that British travellers are moving away from traditional celebrations in favour of exploration and upgraded experiences during the holiday season.
