European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Slightly Higher in Thursday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were slightly higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.11% to 1,641.58 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications operator Telefonica (TEF) and oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE), which rose 3.9% and 2.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which gained 1.9% and 1.3% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech companies BioNTech (BNTX) and Evaxion (EVAX), which declined 6.1% and 5% respectively. They were followed by accommodations booking company trivago (TRVG) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which were down 2.8% and 2.5% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN) and biopharmaceutical company Amarin (AMRN), which advanced 2.4% and 1.3% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN) and educational publisher Pearson (PSO), which increased 1.2% and 0.9% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which fell 8.5% and 6.3% respectively. They were followed by communications company WPP (WPP) and biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO), which were down 4.2% and 2.5% respectively.
