GE Vernova (GEV) and Siemens Energy are in discussions to supply gas turbines for a $7 billion power project in Syria, Reuters reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The potential projects stem from a deal signed in May between Syria and a subsidiary of Qatar's Power International for the construction of four combined-cycle gas turbine power plants totaling 4,000 megawatts of capacity, according to Reuters.
Both companies are potential recipients of contracts, one source told Reuters.
GE Vernova and Siemens Energy did not immediately reply to MTNewswires' request for comment.
