Lithium Americas Corp. has released a corporate presentation detailing ongoing construction and development at its Thacker Pass lithium project in northern Nevada. The company reports that Thacker Pass is fully permitted and in major construction, with a targeted Phase 1 production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate. First production is anticipated for late 2027. Funding for Phase 1 construction has been secured from the U.S. Department of Energy, General Motors, and Orion Resources. General Motors has also entered into a 20-year offtake agreement and is a joint venture partner in Thacker Pass. Recent financial activities include the completion of two ATM programs and the receipt of a $435 million drawdown from the DOE loan. The presentation highlights the growing demand for lithium driven by electric vehicles, grid-scale battery storage, and the need for U.S. supply chain security in response to China's dominance in the global battery market.
