SMX (Security Matters) plc has announced the development of a new sustainability system that embeds molecular-level identity technology into materials such as plastics, composites, and flame-retardant products. This technology enables materials to serve as verifiable data sources, allowing for direct measurement of composition, origin, and compliance throughout their lifecycle. The system is designed to replace traditional reporting and self-declaration methods with automatic verification, providing regulators, manufacturers, and other stakeholders with precise, data-backed information on sustainability, safety, and recycling. In collaboration with A*STAR in Singapore, SMX is implementing a plastics passport that links each item to a verified record of its lifecycle.
