News Corporation, through Realtor.com®, has released new analysis indicating a notable decline in homebuyer remorse as the U.S. housing market cools. According to the 2025 Consumer Attitudes & Usage Study, just 8% of recent buyers felt they overpaid for their homes, down from 15% in 2023. The data reveals that 37% of buyers reported having no regrets about their purchase, a six percentage point increase from two years ago. The report attributes these trends to a more deliberate approach among buyers, with slower market conditions and higher borrowing costs encouraging more thoughtful decision-making. Overall, the findings suggest that buyers are entering the market with clearer expectations and greater financial confidence, resulting in lower levels of regret across the board.
