China's Consumption Stimulus May Target Services Next Year -- Market Talk

0947 GMT - Beijing is expected to continue with deploying subsidies next year to support consumption, though the mix is likely to expand to services, which may encourage more sustainable consumption growth, HSBC economists say in a research note. Sales growth for the Singles' Day online shopping event was much slower than last year, the analysts say, citing third-party data. Meanwhile, the softer pace of growth in China's October retail sales was partly due to a high base effect for segments such as home appliances, which had been supported by government's trade-in subsidies.
