Clarivate plc has released a new report analyzing the adoption and impact of artificial intelligence $(AI)$ across the intellectual property $(IP)$ ecosystem. According to the report, AI adoption among IP professionals in corporate and law firm environments has surged from 57% to 85% over the past two years. The report highlights that as AI becomes more integrated into IP workflows, confidence in its use grows, with law firms and corporations actively using AI showing significantly higher support for its deployment. However, governance remains a key concern, with 65% of attorneys citing privacy and liability as major barriers to broader adoption. The study also finds that AI is increasingly utilized for strategic tasks such as competitive intelligence, research, and patent analysis, but emphasizes the continued importance of human judgment and oversight to ensure reliability and compliance.
