** Canada and India are close to finalizing a uranium trade agreement in an export deal valued at about $2.8 billion, according to people familiar with the matter.

** Canadian investment company Flowing River Capital has agreed to buy Marshall Land Systems from Britain’s Marshall Group in a deal that will make the firm Canada’s largest indigenous-owned defence contractor.

** Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith are expected to sign an energy memorandum of understanding in Calgary on Thursday, as B.C. Premier David Eby voiced objections over a proposed heavy oil pipeline.

** Brookfield BN.TO Chief Operating Officer Justin Beber faced tough questions from Canadian lawmakers on Monday over Prime Minister Mark Carney’s ties to the investment firm, including potential conflicts of interest, Carney’s returns on Brookfield funds and the company’s tax practices.

** Canada’s justice minister said on Monday an upcoming bill will seek to reinstate mandatory minimum sentences for child pornography offences, after the Supreme Court struck down the penalties earlier this year.
