Fujitsu Ltd. has developed a system utilizing AI to support companies in constructing their supply chains, considering various risks such as cyberattacks and conflicts, it announced on Friday.

Utilizing large language models (LLMs)--a foundational model for generative AI--the new system comprehensively calculates the impact of such risks on procurement, manufacturing and sales, and automatically devises optimized countermeasures. Fujitsu aims for practical implementation in fiscal 2026.

The new system has been dubbed "supply chain digital rehearsal." In a verification test conducted with a major food company from April to September, it hypothesized the impact on the supply chain under the scenario of the Suez Canal being blocked due to conflict involving Israel. It automatically derived countermeasures such as changing sea transport routes for raw materials sourced overseas to domestic factories and adjusting production plans.

A key feature of the system is the visualization of predicted changes in demand, price and other factors, enabling companies to verify and refine forecasts. The nature and number of simulated risks can be adjusted according to each company's specific circumstances.
