AeroVironment Inc. has announced the integration of its Visual Navigation System (VNS) kit with the Puma™ Long Endurance $(LE)$ small unmanned aircraft system, expanding GNSS-denied navigation capabilities across the entire Puma family. The VNS kit, first introduced in 2022 for other Puma models, uses advanced computer vision and onboard processing to enable precise, satellite-independent navigation by fusing visual and inertial data in real time. This allows uninterrupted and accurate flight operations even in environments where GNSS signals are unreliable or unavailable. The announcement also highlights recent upgrades to the Puma LE, including a laser target designator and universal gimbal kit, enhancing its operational capabilities. These results have already been announced by AeroVironment.
