Argentina's Flybondi orders Airbus, Boeing jets in $1.7 billion investment

Dec 2 (Reuters) - Argentine low-cost airline Flybondi has placed orders for new Airbus AIR.PA and Boeing BA.N jets in a fleet expansion plan that will require around $1.7 billion in investment, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

  • Flybondi will add 15 Airbus A220-300 to its fleet, with options for another five aircraft.

  • The company will be the first Latin American operator of the regional jet, which competes with Brazilian planemaker Embraer's EMBRJ.SA aircraft.

  • Deliveries are scheduled from 2027 to 2029.

  • Flybondi will also add 10 Boeing 737 MAX 10, with options for another five.

  • Deliveries shoud start in 2027 and run through 2030.

  • "This expansion marks a strategic milestone for the airline, which will seek growth both in Argentina and in new markets across Latin America and the Caribbean," it said.

  • Flybondi currently flies 14 Boeing 737-800 jets.

  • The investment will be led by COC Global Enterprise, Flybondi's main investor, the firm said.
