Intuitive Surgical Inc. has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expand the indications for its da Vinci Single Port (SP) surgical system. The new FDA clearance allows the use of the da Vinci SP system for inguinal hernia repair, cholecystectomy, and appendectomy procedures. This expansion builds on the system's existing U.S. clearances for urology, colorectal, thoracic, and transoral surgeries, further broadening the scope of minimally invasive procedures that can be performed with the da Vinci SP platform.
