Weyerhaeuser Company has announced a partnership with Aymium to rapidly scale the biocarbon market for use in metals production. The two companies have formed a joint venture, TerraForge Biocarbon Solutions, which will build a facility adjacent to Weyerhaeuser's lumber mill in McComb, Mississippi, to convert wood fiber into sustainable biocarbon through a low-emissions, combustion-free process. This collaboration aims to produce and sell 1.5 million tons of biocarbon annually, with plans to construct multiple new production sites over the next five years. The initiative leverages Weyerhaeuser's timberland resources and Aymium's proprietary technology, targeting a scalable and renewable replacement for coal in the metals industry. The first facility is expected to come online in 2027.
