Toyota Motor (TM) plans to import three US-built models into Japan next year, aiming to ease trade deficit concerns, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday.

The automaker intends to bring in the Camry sedan, Tundra pickup, and Highlander SUV, expanding choices for Japanese consumers, the report said.

Toyota may face higher US labor and shipping costs, while the plan depends on Japan's transport ministry easing import approval with simplified certification expected in early 2026, the report said.

Honda Motor (HMC) and Nissan Motor are considering similar steps, the report said.

Toyota Motor didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
