Petrobras (PBR) is planning to acquire a 49.9% stake in the Brazilian unit of BP's (BP) renewables arm Lightsource, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The Brazilian state-owned oil and gas firm's board approved the move to buy a stake in Lightsource bp Brasil in a Tuesday meeting, the sources told Bloomberg.

Lightsource develops and operates solar projects in over a dozen countries and also focuses on utility-scale battery storage, according to the report.

Petrobras did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
