Nissan Motor said personal information of about 21,000 customers might have been leaked as a result of unauthorized access to a server managed by a contractor.
The Japanese automaker said that names, residential addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the customers who purchased cars or used services at its sales unit in the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka might have been compromised.
Nissan said the contractor detected the unauthorized access in late September, immediately removed it, and took measures to prevent recurrence.
