Nio brand will add over 4,200 long-range battery packs to its swap system, the company said today in a Chinese announcement detailing December delivery figures.\nThis will include 1,200 100-kWh the company said.\nThe 100-kWh battery pack is used in Nio's older models, while the 102-kWh battery pack powers its newer vehicles.\nNio delivered 48,135 vehicles in December, surpassing its previous driven by strong performance of the third-generation ES8, propelling Nio brand deliveries to a record 31,897 units in December -- marking its first time exceeding the 30,000-unit mark.\nOn December 5, Onvo announced its battery pack doubling initiative, stating the brand would deploy over 8,000 new battery packs, with completion expected by mid-January 2026.\nOn December 15, Onvo updated progress on the initiative, reporting over 2,600 additional battery packs deployed since the doubling plan began.\nEarlier today, Onvo announced the 6,000th new battery pack has entered service, bringing the battery doubling initiative to 75 percent completion.\nBoth the Nio main brand and Onvo have faced battery shortages in recent months due to strong sales of the third-generation ES8 and Onvo L90 large electric SUVs.\nDuring the initial launch of these two models, Nio Inc prioritized battery pack allocation for vehicle production over deployment to battery swap stations.\nNio currently operates 3,677 battery swap stations in China, the vast majority of which are accessible to Onvo.\nPart of the reason for adding battery packs to these facilities may be to prepare for the Chinese New Year
