Barclays (BCS) said Wednesday it has made a strategic investment in Ubyx, a clearing system for tokenized deposits and stablecoins.

The investment comes amid growing interest in digital money transacted on public blockchain infrastructures, the company said.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Barclays shares were down nearly 1% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
