European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were little changed late Thursday morning, edging 0.02% higher to 1,753.96 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which rose 4.6% and 3.2%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC), which were up 1.7% and 1%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (NVO) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which fell 3.8% and 3.7%, respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Eni (E) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were down 2.5% and 1.7%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and lender HSBC (HSBC), which advanced 5.2% and 1.2%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD) and biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), which increased 1% each.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and alcoholic beverage company Diageo (DEO), which dropped 7.4% and 2.5%, respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca (AZN) and GSK (GSK), which lost 2.2% and 2.1%, respectively.
