Grab Earnings at Risk From Potential Indonesia Ride-Hailing Rule Change -- Market Talk

0340 GMT - Grab's earnings could be hit if Indonesia's proposal to change ride-hailing commissions goes through, says CGS International's Jacquelyn Yow in a note. The country is reportedly considering a draft decree that could cap the commission Grab charges its driver-partners at 10%, down from the current 20%, for two-wheel rides. Such a cap could drag down Grab's adjusted Ebitda by 5%-10%, assuming 20% of Indonesia's contribution to Grab's mobility segment gross merchandise value comes from two-wheel rides, the analyst says. Still, she believes Grab has levers to protect its margin profile, including passing on costs through higher fares and reducing partner incentives. CGSI maintains its add rating and $7.20 target price. Shares last closed 0.2% lower at $4.38.(megan.cheah@wsj.com)
