Top Midday Stories: Abbott Shares Fall After Q4 Revenue Miss; GE Shares Down Despite EPS, Revenue Beat

All three major US stock indexes were up in late-morning trading Thursday, as geopolitical tensions eased after President Donald Trump's appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

In company news, Abbott Laboratories (ABT) reported Q4 adjusted earnings Thursday of $1.50 per diluted share, up from $1.34 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus analyst estimate of $1.49. Fourth-quarter net sales were $11.46 billion, up from $10.97 billion a year ago but below the FactSet consensus of $11.80 billion. For Q1, the company said it expects adjusted diluted EPS of $1.12 to $1.18. For 2026, Abbott said it expects adjusted diluted EPS of $5.55 to $5.80. Analysts polled by FactSet expect $5.68. Abbott shares were down 8.2% around midday.

GE Aerospace (GE) reported Q4 adjusted EPS Thursday of $1.57, up from $1.32 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.43. Fourth-quarter adjusted revenue was $11.87 billion, up from $9.88 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $11.19 billion. For 2026, the company said it expects adjusted EPS of $7.10 to $7.40. Analysts expect $7.14. GE Aerospace shares were down 7%.

Alibaba Group (BABA) is planning an initial public offering of its T-Head chipmaking unit, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter. The company plans to restructure T-Head, making it partly owned by employees, before moving on to its listing, the report said, citing the sources. Alibaba shares were up 6.3%.

Procter & Gamble (PG) reported fiscal Q2 core diluted EPS of $1.88, unchanged from a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $1.86. Fiscal Q2 net sales were $22.21 billion, up from $21.89 billion a year ago but below the FactSet consensus of $22.30 billion. Procter & Gamble shares were up 2.7%.

Autodesk (ADSK) said Thursday in a regulatory filing that it is terminating around 7% of its workforce, or roughly 1,000 employees. The company said it expects to incur pretax restructuring charges of $135 million to $160 million. Around $90 million to $110 million of the charges will be recorded in fiscal Q4, with the remainder in fiscal 2027, Autodesk said. Autodesk shares were up 2.8%.
