The Australian Banking Association, the Australian Finance Industry Association, the Customer Owned Banking Association, and Arca joined the Financial Safety Alliance, which seeks to provide lenders with the tools to integrate financial safety by design principles into their products and services, according to a Tuesday statement.

The alliance is building on the work of 40 banks that updated their terms and conditions to prohibit the misuse of financial products for control or harm, per the statement.
