Sen. Jon Husted (R., Ohio) joined several other Republican lawmakers calling for an investigation into the shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. "Any incident involving law enforcement's use of lethal force must be thoroughly and objectively investigated," he wrote on social media late Sunday.

Husted, who is up for re-election this year after being appointed to succeed Vice President JD Vance in the Senate, also signaled support for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, law enforcement and first responders. He urged public servants to "lower the temperature around immigration enforcement." Earlier Sunday, several moderate Republicans, including Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, called on federal and state authorities to jointly investigate the Saturday shooting.
